Please <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aquatechphuket.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contact a pool water specialist in your area <\/a>for exact maintenance requirements and to set up a schedule for your specific pool. <\/p>\n<p><em>Source <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingpool.com\/maintenance\/testing-your-water\/basic-pool-care-checklist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">swimmingpool.com<\/a> (COPYRIGHT SwimmingPool.com 2014)<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-row\"><div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-2\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><strong>Opening Your Pool<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove, clean and store the pool cover<\/li>\n<li>Thoroughly clean and vacuum the pool<\/li>\n<li>Add water to the desired height at the prescribed rate of 1\u201d (25 mm) per hour<\/li>\n<li>Test water balance, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/PH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pH<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hard_water\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Calcium hardness<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hard_water\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Total Alkalinity<\/a> levels<\/li>\n<li>Inspect electrical service, filters, skimmers, drains, ladders, diving boards, plugs, gauges, and other important components of the system<\/li>\n<li>Lubricate fittings, valves, O-rings, and plugs<\/li>\n<li>Inspect tile and grout installations, and clean tiles and skimmer with cleanser<\/li>\n<li>Take a sample of pool water to a pool water expert for analysis<\/li>\n<li>Clean and inspect pool deck<\/li>\n<li>Skim pool water surface and vacuum pool bottom<\/li>\n<li>Backwash filter if necessary<\/li>\n<li>Shock pool water to break-point levels<\/li>\n<li>Adopt a routine maintenance program for the season<\/li>\n<li>Add algaecide as required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pool Maintenance 2-3 times a week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Empty skimmer and pump basket (may require more frequent cleaning)<\/li>\n<li>Vacuum the pool two to three times a week. Brush the sides and bottom of your pool, even if you have an automatic pool cleaner as this will loosen dirt and other particles that may adhere to pool finish. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div> <div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-2\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>Weekly Pool Maintenance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove any large accumulation of debris on the bottom with a leaf scoop.<\/li>\n<li>Feed the pool with chlorine or other sanitizer to satisfy its requirements either manually or automatically.<\/li>\n<li>Check that the water level is high enough for the pump to operate correctly.<\/li>\n<li>Test and adjust sanitizer level (may require more frequent testing depending upon bather load and environmental conditions)<\/li>\n<li>Visually inspect pool water for clarity, color and visible contaminants<\/li>\n<li>Remove floating leaves<\/li>\n<li>Test and adjust pH (may require more frequent testing depending upon bather load and environmental conditions)\n<ul>\n<li>The pH should be in the range 7.4 \u2013 7.7 if the pool has a vinyl or tile finish. The range should be 7.3 -7.5 if the pool has a fiberglass finish. The range should be 7.4-7.6 for a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shotcrete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gunite<\/a> swimming pool. If the level is too high, then adjust it down using pH decreaser. The correct dosage is located on the label.    <\/li>\n<li>If the pH is too low, then add pH increaser. Again see labels for dosage. If the pH has dropped possibly so has your total alkalinity.  <\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t correct your pH more than once a week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Test chlorine levels in the pool water:\n<ul>\n<li>Free chlorine levels should be between 1-3 ppm<\/li>\n<li>Free bromine levels should be between 3-5 ppm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Test and adjust Alkalinity<\/li>\n<li>Test and adjust Oxidizer and Stabilizer levels<\/li>\n<li>Clean the tile at the water line<\/li>\n<li>Check filter pressure and backwash only if required<\/li>\n<li>Check water level and adjust as necessary at the prescribed rate of 1\u201d (25 mm) per hour<\/li>\n<li>Add a preventative dose of algaecide as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Shock the pool as per label instructions. This treatment restores the sparkle to the pool water and destroys germs and organic contaminants (can be done once every 2 weeks) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div> <\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Monthly Pool Maintenance:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Test and adjust Calcium Hardness<\/li>\n<li>Test and adjust for Total Dissolved Solids<\/li>\n<li>Test the total alkalinity, which should be in the range of 120-150 ppm.<\/li>\n<li>Chemically clean the filter<\/li>\n<li>Visually inspect tile, grout, sealant, and other exposed elements of pool<\/li>\n<li>Conduct <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lenntech.com\/calculators\/langelier\/index\/langelier.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Langelier Saturation<\/a> Index evaluation and adjust as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Test your salt levels if you have a saltwater pool.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a vinyl liner \u2013 check for holes and tears and make any needed repairs as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a concrete, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shotcrete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gunite<\/a> pool or fiberglass pool, check for cracks.<\/li>\n<li>Check the seals in your motor and pump.<\/li>\n<li>Check all handrails, steps and other safety equipment to be sure that it\u2019s in proper working order.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Closing a Pool:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Balance the pool water chemistry, typically to the following levels:\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/PH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pH<\/a>: 7.2 \u2013 7.6<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alkalinity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Total Alkalinity<\/a>: 80 \u2013 120 parts per million (ppm)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hard_water\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Calcium Hardness<\/a>: 180 \u2013 220 ppm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Run the filter continuously for 24 \u2013 48 hours<\/li>\n<li>Remove skimmer baskets, cleaners, ladders, wall fittings, and solar blankets from the pool<\/li>\n<li>Lower the water level in the pool to 6\u201d (150 mm) below the skimmer level at the prescribed rate of 1\u201d (25 mm) per hour<\/li>\n<li>Drain all pumping, filtering, heating, and sanitizing equipment to prevent damage caused by freezing<\/li>\n<li>Lubricate O-rings, valves and plugs to make opening the pool in the spring easier<\/li>\n<li>Thoroughly clean and vacuum the pool<\/li>\n<li>Winterize the plumbing by blowing out the lines and plug the lines with expansion plugs<\/li>\n<li>Add winterizing algaecide<\/li>\n<li>Cover the pool with a tight fitting cover<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NOTE: Always follow label directions when adding any pool maintenance products to the pool. Never mix products together.
